Traana / Xeex Bi Du Jeex – Blå Stället
On the last weekend of Pablo Allison’s exhibition Migrantes Valientes – Stories of Migration, we invite you to a film day of talks. The following films are displayed: Emma Dominguez: Exile, 4 min. (2018). Bouba Touré, Raphaël Grisey & Káddu Yaraax: Xeex Bi Du Jeex – A Luta Continua, 70 min. (2018). Traana-Temporary Migrant 27 min. (2017). The tours are followed by an artist talk with Emma Dominguez together with Daniel Terres and Patrik Haggren from Urban Konst at Göteborgs Konsthall. Artist Pablo Allison will also be present. About the films: Emma Dominguez’s short film Exil is about exile in a Swedish context. The film asks questions about: what happens to the grief that occurs when we find roots among the concrete but are forced to leave the place? It is said that trauma is inherited, even though we have not experienced the exile ourselves. How do we become whole again? Emma Dominguez is an artist and activist. In her art, she often takes the starting point in a questioning of power structures and who gets to be seen, heard and take place in our common rooms. The other two films are made by photographer Bouba Touré and photographer/filmmaker Raphaël Grisey together with the theatre group Káddu Yaraax, who work with Forumteater based on playwright Augusto Boal’s « Theatre of the Oppressed ». Both films are part of a series of works that form an archive of the agricultural collective Somankidi Coura in Senegal. The collective was started in the 1970s by returning working migrants and activists from France. The archive and films tell the story of working migrants’ struggle for freedom and fair living conditions – but also about the pan-African heritage of local knowledge and ecosystems, collective work, agriculture and permaculture. The archive and films tell the story of working migrants’ struggle for freedom and fair living conditions – but also about the pan-African heritage of local knowledge and ecosystems, collective work, agriculture and permaculture. The work on the archive is an attempt to document and formulate liberation stories, collective struggle and care and to decolonize migration and development policy. Location: Stora Salongen, Kulturhuset Blå Stället. A collaboration with Urban Konst at Göteborgs Konsthall.
